| The development course of Jiakang Electronics Co., Ltd.

I. Initial stage of foundation
Founded in March, 1985, Jiakang Electronics Co., Ltd. (formerly named Jiaxing Electronic Ceramic Factory) was set up by Jiaxing Electronic Apparatus Factory for implementing the project of “Introducing the fabrication technology and equipment of ceramic filter”. Jiaxing Electronic Ceramic Factory was located in 88, Chengdong Road of Jiaxing City, occupying area 6646.8㎡ and having 196 staff members. The construction work was completed in June of 1986. And in July, Jiaxing Electronic Ceramic Factory was put into production. The main products then were piezoelectric small alt, piezoelectric ceramic buzzer, mechanical filter power exchanger, and power exchanger in telephone receiver.
In 1986, the factory’s sales income was RMB 437,900, and total profit RMB 54,800.
On the basis of fixed capital RMB 314,200, current capital RMB 100,000, and project loan RMB 160,000, the small-sized state-owned industrial enterprise, Jiaxing Electronic Ceramic Factory, made its first step.
II. Stage of development
The project “Introducing the fabrication technology and equipment of ceramic filter” was reported to “Project Proposal” in 1984. In July of 1987, Jiaxing Electronic Ceramic Factory and the intermediate part agreed to terminate the project after negotiation. During that time, the American part seriously breached the agreement: 1. They postponed the delivery date for 17 months. Even in Jan. of 1991, some inspecting instruments were still not delivered; 2. American part failed to execute the agreement of “Making products of 3000 pcs and five varieties using Chinese material” to carry out the technical training on our technicians, and resulted in the unsuccessful technical training; 3. Most equipment delivered had not finished commissioning within 250 working days, failed to pass the inspection. The technology process was uncertain, and products were not up to the standard. American part’s breach of contract gave us great burden. In the most difficult times, our debt reached as high as 132%.
From July of 1987 to March of 1988, our factory carried on the commissioning and technologic on the imported equipment. Then we cooperated with other factories to use nationally made equipment in the project. We gradually solved the problems about technology and technique during fabrication by ourselves. July of 1989 called the trial production. And in Oct., our factory passed the provincial appraisal of design and production. The introduced project was executed by Zhejiang Electronic Industry Company in June of 1991, and passed the completion examination.
During the period of our development, all our staff made painstaking effort to tackle problems by scientific and technological power. Some of our engineers took the factory as their home. They worked here, ate here. And they contributed a lot to the development of our company. All the staff exert their minds to increase the utility rate of equipment, and improve the utilizing result of capital, cut down expenses. Finally, our factory successfully came out from the serious situation.
III. Turning point: 1993
In 1993, we achieved a favorable turn and two breakthroughs.
The first turn was the adjustment of product structure. Owning to leader’s high attention to development of new products, the products of high added value began to take the dominant position, accounting for 69.6% of all sales income. Many products were researched, put into production and created benefit in the same year. Meanwhile, the factory developed both domestic and overseas markets. 15 new factories became our customers. And our sales volume was increased by 268.5﹪ than in 1992, and export income increased by 105﹪.
The two breakthroughs: 1. Sales income reached RMB 12.6275 million, increased by 165.9﹪ than in 1992. 2. Profit reached RMB 2.186, realizing large economic benefit’s rise.
IV. Contracting
Mr. Zhang Maoshui began to act as factory director since 1989. The superior charging department signed the contract for three periods with him, totally seven years (1989-1995). What Zhang Maoshui did was not to just earn money for himself during this period, but to lay a firm foundation for enterprise’s long-term development. In these seven years, he got RMB 3.96 million funds from depreciation and great repair. Fixed assets were increased by RMB 12.986 million. RMB 6.594 million potential loss was saved, and surplus capital RMB 1.91 million. The total payment to workers was RMB 3.149 million. The enterprise gained an obvious increase of its capacity.
V. Two reforms
The first reform was carried out on June 30 of 1997, reformed from the state-owned Jiaxing Electronic Ceramic Factory to a stock enterprise co-invested by state, collectivity and natural person. The total capital stock was 9.18 million shares, RMB 1 for each. The State accounted for 18.2﹪, collectivity accounted for 21.8﹪, Zhang Maoshui and other 285 individual persons accounted for 60%.
The second reformed was on March 27 of 2000. Approved by Provincial Government Security Committee, Jiaxing Electronic Ceramic Factory was wholly transformed to Zhejiang Jiakang Electronic Stock Co., Ltd., with total capital stock 25.78 million shares, RMB 1 for each, totally constituted by Zhang Maoshui and other 273 individual persons.
VI. Fast growing period
Jiakang Company had got great achievement in the areas of emphasizing product research and development, increasing the intension of technical reform, increasing the amount of company’s independent intellectual property, carrying out the technical cooperation with high colleges and institutes, implementing ISO9000 and ISO14000 standards, and strengthening the communication and cooperation with overseas companies of this industry. During the period of the ninth “Five-year Plan”, the company main business income was increased by 24.82% on average every year.
During the tenth “Five-year Plan”, the main business income in 2003 was 64.76﹪ higher than in 2000. These figure said the fast growth of Jiakang Company. Our fast progress had won the appreciation from central and provincial governments, and was awarded such titles as “the key enterprise of Electronic Information Industry in Zhejiang Province”, “Excellent Enterprise of Technical Advancement in Zhejiang Province”, “Hi-tech Enterprise in Zhejiang Province”, “Top 100 Enterprise of China Electronic Industry”, “Excellent Enterprise of Commodity Export in China”, “Known brand of China Electronic Industry”, “Verification Unit of China Hi-tech Industrialization”, and “Top Ten Industrial Enterprise of Preeminent Contribution in Jiaxing”, etc.
At the beginning of 2004, Jiakang Industrial Park, occupying ground area of 100,000 square meters and building area 50,000 square meters, was put into operation, which was a symbol of company’s new developing period. All the staff of Jiakang Company, under the leadership of Mr. Zhang Maoshui, their President, are now walking to the target of main business income RMB 500 million, and tax revenue RMB 100 million.
